You digg?

Posted By Prophecy in Deadly sins, Devil's corner, Ethics and Morals

The Canadian prime-minister just announced funding to geo-map Canada’s north in an effort to locate oil, gas, diamonds, gold and whatever else there is under that  terrain.

Isn’t that just wonderful. He is going to waste hundreds of thousands of taxpayers’ money to locate those treasures and hand them over to whoever might have a pick and shovel in their possession.

Let not us worry about the environmental factors. Let not us worry about how inefficient the practices of the mining companies still are. Let not us worry about the hundreds of abandoned mines that are potential sources of geothermal heat, yet sit there leaching.

The ironic part is that this party is making this announcement on the eve of calling for election. They are actually hoping that this would help them get re-elected.

Well, I for one am going to vote Green this year.

2008 Olympics IV

Posted By Prophecy in Destiny, Ethics and Morals

The games are over.

If you found yourself cheering for the underdog, the tiny poor countries or the poor athletes competing in second-hand shoes, you were not alone.

You were not alone if you cheered for the athlete who used to make 37 cents a day carrying fire-wood and is now making $100K in a day.

You were not alone if you cheered for countries who could afford to send only a handful of athletes but ended up winning a lot higher percentage of medals than the well-to-do countries who sent their superstars in the hundreds.

You were also not alone if you cried or welled-up when you heard your country’s anthem and wondered why you are not proud of your country more often.

I honestly hope that we learned something from this experience and the feelings that followed it.

As a wise contributor recently said, we should try to learn, teach, and love one another. I realize that borders are not easily removed but love for our fellow human beings should be border-less.
